Seventeen-year-old Sparkle spends her days taking care of her grandfa...。東宝のお正月ドル箱興行として、三たび岡本喜八が監督した“暗黒街“もの。今回は“S活動“と称する産業スパイが描かれる。捕鯨砲練習所の章鹿次郎は、山合いの峠で高性能エンジンのテスト中に事故死した兄の死因を調べるため、大学時代の友人でトップ屋の須藤と調査を始める。高性能エンジンを開発した技師の小松は、兄の死には産業スパイが絡んでいると推察。調べていくうちに、経済研究所と暴力団能中組が浮かび上がった。今回も岡本喜八の演出は、スピーディーでシャープな冴えを見せ、特にギャグを盛り込んだ乱闘シーンや、見せ場の銃撃戦にユニークな才能をいかんなく発揮している。。
