故事描述一个叫迪亚戈的西班牙革命份子（共产党人），25年来为革命理想不懈奋斗，但因遭受西班牙当局的迫害而远走巴黎。一次在从西班牙回法国的路途中，他遇到了边境警察的检查盘问，多亏有个叫娜蒂妮的女大学生来帮他涉险过关，后来两人在巴黎相爱。迪亚戈在巴黎忙着筹备一场浩大的工人罢工运动，以呼应西班牙国内的革命党人被捕事件，但后来娜蒂妮却与激进的青年组织挂上号，并密谋在西班牙进行绑架人质的恐怖活动。迪亚戈谴责了他们的暴力倾向，然而为了革命事业最后他还是回到西班牙，但等待他的是天罗地网......。When he learns his days are numbered old count Hervé de Kéraudren decides to hide in a secret alcove and to die there, just to annoy his heirs. As a result of his body not being found the latter will have to wait for five years until they can inherit the count's money. Very upsetting indeed, all the more as they are required to keep up the Kéraudren estate in the meantime. To collect money, nephews and nieces organize a Son et Lumière show at the manor while busily looking for the missing corpse. But, unexpectedly, they get killed in turns. Murders or accidents? Jean-Marie, his fiancée Micheline and his cousin Edwige investigate and finally succeed in exposing the culprit.
