该剧基于德州杀手Candy Montgomery与受害者Betty Gore的真实故事改编，奥尔森将饰演Candy Montgomery。1980年的德州，Montgomery似乎拥有了一切，热爱工作的丈夫、一双子女、在新郊区的一所漂亮房子，可为什么她要用斧头砍死自己的教会朋友呢？。Two young men (Jon Cryer, Rick Stear) who have been friends since early childhood decide to go on a trip to find a third friend (Rafael Baez) who has long since disappeared. Stories they have heard indicate that the friend has been seen in an apparently rambling, incoherent state at Coney Island.
