Jenny（王菲）意识到自己对身边的黑帮老大伊藤已无爱时，带着伊藤一大笔钱来到冲绳。这笔钱本是国际大盗唐杰（张国荣）帮伊藤在警察证物室偷回一本写满伊藤艳史的日记本的费用，Jenny的携带逃离令他无计可施。 香港警局档案室探员罗宏达（梁家辉）和其女友Sandy（黎姿）在冲绳度假，认出唐杰是警方通缉的要犯，为获晋升机会，他佯装与唐杰合作爆窃冲绳一家银行，以便将其逮捕。计划中，要利用银行隔壁的房屋来进行爆破，而Jenny恰好就住在里面。因为两人都逐渐爱上Jenny，事情开始变得复杂。。1974年，新建的兰湾海港工地上，指挥长凌勇为响应周总理提出的"三年改变港口面貌"的号召，正和工人们一起用沉井方法兴建两个万吨级码头。。Set between Hong Kong, London and Frankfurt, this is the intimate portrait of five women working in the highest spheres of finance.
